Airports and Home

I love airports. Airports are a place where people are leaving one location, people they love, and going somewhere new maybe. Maybe to start a new life, or just temporarily. Airports are also a place where people are coming back home, reuniting with people they haven't seen in a while. Ah, there's so much emotion and things changing in people's lives at airports and I love it.

I love being home! My carpet gets softer every time I come home to it and my family is so nice to me. They crack me up. My brother is getting so tall and old. I don't think he looks like Tupac I think he looks like a Toucan. This was a conversation we had in the car:

Mom: I'm trying to talk to Kevin about Love. To tell him all about it.
Kevin: LALALALALAALA
Me: Mom, so what IS love?
Mom: When you won't do anything to hurt that person. Even if you get into a fight with them.

Such a simple definition of love, but very wise don't you think?

Surprisingly I haven't seen anybody except for family yet. Maybe because I have nothing to wear since I only brought dirty clothes home and am in the process of washing everything.

The weather was so nice in San Diego the day I left. Steph and I went to eat lunch in Seaport Village which is right along the harbor. There's so many out doors things that I want to do next quarter! Biking on the harbor, kayaking on the bay, and skim boarding at La Jolla Shores. :) There are also a bunch of events to look forward to next quarter.

4/4-4/8: Family weekend (Mom, aunts, uncle, and cousins!)
4/12: Admit Day, Casino Dance
4/13: Fusion
4/19: Marshal Semi-Formal

Not to mention a whole new group of OLs and the process of selecting a new cabinet for TASA. Hopefully sometime in the beginning of the spring quarter I'll figure out what I'm going to do for the summer because everything is so up in the air right now!

Goals for spring quarter:
- Finish arranging at least one song
- Read, read, read!
- Spend time with family
- Enjoy NYC!!!

Let's Escape into the Music

Tomorrow's my last final which marks another ending to a quarter. For some reason I didn't feel as stressed this quarter as the week of doom ominously hovered over everybody's heads. Maybe it's because I only had two finals and two papers that weren't too difficult to write. But as I'm attempting to study for my last final I'm feeling my procrastination catch up to me. I definitely had enough time this past weekend to be done studying by now, but of course diamonds are only created under great pressure.

Why is it that each quarter feels like a completely different school year, or maybe it's just me. Last quarter was such a blur of hospital visits, late night conversations in my car, sofas in the middle of the living room, laughter and food. I guess it was kind of our honeymoon stage. Honeymoon stages are nice, but they don't really last.

Winter Quarter always feels really long even though there are two three day weekends and lots of birthday celebrations. Birthdays are all exciting now because everybody's turning 21 (PB PB PB!), but I really do exemplify what they say - once you're legally able to drink, alcohol loses it's appeal. Maybe I'm just recovering from a much too crazy fall quarter, but the bar scene is pretty nice. It's definitely a fun way to meet all sorts of people and get closer to the ones who can go to the bars with you (and make all the friends who can't jealous & bitter). Now I just can't wait to go to Vegas! :)

Sometimes I feel that it's still really hard to make good friends in college. I've definitely made some that I will probably keep in touch with throughout my life, but people are still so scared to commit. Like, they still want to meet as many people as they can, which I'm not saying is a bad thing, but at what point are you satisfied with the friends that you have? I guess since I've pretty much reached that point I don't want anybody leaving me.

It's taken me more than two years, but right now I'm pretty content with my life in San Diego. Even now, as I'm procrastinating for my final, I'm doing it in the company of some of my favorite people and the view looking over Library Walk from the fifth floor of the library is gorgeous in it's own, nerdy way.

Hello Again

Julie Kim, you are amazing.

Even though I don't talk to this girl every day or even every month, she came down from Riverside to see the DOTs Winter Concert. It meant so much to me, words can't even describe.

It's been such a long time since I've blogged. For some reason this is the first year since 9th grade I haven't been blogging. I don't really know why, but I guess I just don't have the desire anymore? During the summer I wrote a lot in my journal, but I've been so busy at school that I haven't had time to write in it. I think I'm going to try to revive this thing and write in it once in a while. Of course, since it's finals week, I felt that it was the perfect time to start up again. :) But for now this is it. More to come later.

5 min before this was taken these two were like, "Let's STUDY!" Yeah right.
